I feel a little sad that this is the very first Urban Decay Palette I own at the age of 19, however I am so glad that one has finally arrived into my life because I am in love! The packaging of this product is beautiful and I was surprised at how lovely the double sided eyeshadow brush that comes with it is, I wasn’t even aware that one came with it at all. A sample of the urban decay eyeshadow primer also came with the palette, which I’m very excited to try as it isn’t something that I have ever used before, unfortunately I wasn’t brave enough to use it here but I will soon and I’ll let you know how it goes.
As soon as my perfect shiny new palette arrived I couldn’t wait to try it out, trying new products and creating different looks is definitely one of my favourite things with make up. So I’ve created a couple of different looks with the palette and thought I’d share them with you…
For the base I used No7 Airbrush Away Pore Minimising Primer then applied Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation in 4 using a beauty blender. I then used Max Factor Mastertouch All Day Concealer under my eyes which I set with L’Oreal BB Powder in light, On my cheeks I used Max Factor Creme Puff blush in lovely pink and Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess in light below the blusher. In place of highlighter I used MAC mineralise eyeshadow in Love Connection. Lightly I dusted over my face with L’Oreal BB Powder in Medium using a large techniques powder brush. I filled in my eyebrows using Wunderbrow in Brunette. With my base complete I began on my eyes…
First I dusted over my full eyelid with ‘Limit’ and then ‘Nooner’ to build up the colour. I also used ‘Dust’ across the whole eyelid and then applied ‘Liar’ to the inside and outer corners of my eye. I usually use darker browns on the outer edges of my eyes however I wanted this look to be fairly light and rosey looking. I Used ‘Mugshot’ on the very out edges and carried on using the previous colours to build up the darkness I wanted to achieve. ‘Strange’ was used followed by dust in the centre of my eyelid.
Once my eyeshadow was complete I used Olivia Palermo Ciaté Smoked Out Gel Kohl Liner to line my eyelid, I then used Lancôme Kohl liner to line the inner part of my top eyelid and the very edge of my lower lash line. Red Cherry Wisp Lashes were then applied…
Benefit is my absolute favourite mascara, you can read my review in a previous post here. I think that this make up may have looked better using only roller lash rather than the false lashes, which I’m not sure actually suit my face after looking through these images… However they are on now and I’ll learn from my mistakes.
(Although Roller Lash curls your eyelashes plenty I still like to use an eyelash curler, usually I’m in too much of a rush in a morning to heat the curler up – with a hairdryer – however I was doing my make up in my car the other day and held my curler in front of the heater before using it and I couldn’t believe how much more they curled round. The curler did very quite hot but it definitely did it’s job!nCould be a helpful tip for anyone who frequently does their make up in their car, or that could just be me)
Sticking with the natural(ish) rose hued theme I used my new favourite lipstick, YSL Rouge Volute Shine Lipstick in 15 coral intuitive for my lips.
Here’s another look I created with this palette. Neither are perfect by any means but I’m looking forward to playing around with it and creating more combinations, and this was my first attempt so I guess it wasn’t too bad!
