Staying in doesn’t mean everything has to stop, date night can still happen and feel special. It may be a little different from your usual dates but you can spend time together which is different from the everyday cooking, cleaning and everything else plus, it’s an excuse to get out of your pj’s or loungewear, brush your hair and put some makeup and a cute outfit on.
I like having clothes which can be dressed up or down to make the most of my wardrobe and most of these clothes are just that. With summer coming round you can start to change your wardrobe mixing in some more summery outfits plus now is a perfect time to try new styles out without the awkward feelings of being out in something you later realise is a bad idea.
I’ve put together a few different types of date night outfits so there’s something for whatever mood you’re in and what kind of date night you feel like since everything is a little different from the norm right now!
Depending on what your new date night looks like, a chilled outfit might suit your plans best. We have been making conscious effort to be a lot more active since we aren’t doing as much as we usually would so it’s been nice to wear relaxed outfits to suit this.
These black cargo trousers have been great to chill in since they’re comfy but also make me feel like I’ve made an effort, wearing something other than my go-to joggers. I usually struggle so much to find trousers that fit me. But these fit my waist perfectly and the length is ideal!
These are a more casual piece and I’ve been mostly wearing them with t-shirts, jumpers and even the odd crop top when the sun makes an appearance. Vans keep the casual vibe but they could be worn for heels for a much dressier outfit.
Striped crop top (past season, Topshop)
There are still nights we like to cook and have some kind of romantic meal, on these nights I like to dress up a little more and wear something more ‘girly’. I love this cute black bow top, the ribbed fabric is so soft and comfy but the big bow and cuffs make it feel so much more dressy. Pairing this bow top with a skirt made it feel super girly, I’ll probably wear this with jeans too (when we start leaving the house again and jeans become a tempting option again). The faux leather skirt. Sometimes I feel like I just need to do my hair properly and put on a nice outfit and I feel 100 times better. We decided to have an indoor picnic at lunch and it was nice to feel more like myself. I’m excited to style this jumper with more outfits because I just love the design, the cute bow and flared sleeves make it feel like such a special piece.
Black leather skirt (past season, River Island)
And then there’s the halfway outfit, one where you’re still super comfy (because clearly comfort is very important to me hah) and casual but kind of dressy because sometimes you just want to be somewhere in the middle. Comfort with some effort put in. These trousers are a good staple in my wardrobe because they go with so many things, for a more casual look I like to pair them with an oversized jumper and, if I’m leaving the house, some boots. The shirt is pretty easy to mix up with other outfits too, I’ve paired it with the leather skirt in the past and black heeled boots for a more dressed up outfit.
Black textured pattern shirt (past season, H&M)
Black vest top
How are you finding things? I hope that wherever you are and whatever your current situation you are able to find some happiness in the small pleasures in life. Don’t worry if you aren’t as productive as some seem on social media, or even as productive as you usually are. Things are so different and you might be coming to terms with all that is happening, honour those feelings and don’t be too hard on yourself!
Which is your favourite outfit?
